Renewable energy production in Europe 2021-2022, by leading country
In 2022, Germany accounted for the largest production of renewable energy in Europe, with approximately 237 terawatt-hours of energy generated. The United Kingdom (UK) was the second-largest producer, with some 107 terawatt-hours less than Germany. In both countries, renewable energy production increased in 2022 compared to 2021.
Germany and the UK were also among the largest renewable energy consumers in Europe in 2021, while the largest renewable energy capacity was installed in Germany and Spain.
